Yarchen Monastery, also known as Yaqing Temple is located in Baiyu County (Pelyul), Garzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture , in Sichuan province, China. It lies in an isolated valley 4000m above sea level. The monastery is associated with the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism . With more than 10,000 Sangha members now, it’s the largest concentration of nuns and monks in the world. Most of the Sanghas are nuns. Yaqing Temple, the full name of Yaqing Kim Wu Temple Buddhist temple, 25 years ago, single-handedly founded by Lama A Qiuren Rinpoche, who is spiritual retreat real repair place. In this practice of monks passed people, most of whom come from Sichuan, Tibet, Qinghai Tibetan, and many practitioners of other ethnic groups from the mainland.
Yarchen Vddiyanna meditation monasteryy is one of the very few Tibetan monastery for "nun". It locates in the Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Thousands of nuns from all over China live here. Many of them stay in small hut for meditation.It is reported to have 10 000 monks and nuns, making it possibly the largest monastery in the world. Most of the inhabitants are nuns. It was established in 1985.Many monks and nuns came to Yarchen Gar when Larung Gar was partly demolished in 2001.The abbot, Achuk Rinpoche is one of the seniormost Nyingma masters in Tibet and he practices mainly Dzogchen. He teaches in both Tibetan and Chinese language and attracts students from all over China.
Having such a huge Sangha population, the place is severely lacking in lodgings and retreat facilities. Food,water and clothes are in extremely short supply, electric power is only available from 7pm to 10pm every day. Though living in such a miserable conditions and having been frequented by illnesses, the Sanghas have shown remarkable powers of endurance and perseverance. They diligently practice the Buddha Dharma and seek liberation from Samsara.
The current Chief Abbot His Holiness Achuk Rinpoche, is an incarnation of the great terton Longsal Nyingpo (1625-1682) of Kathok Monastery who was an incarnation of Amitabha Buddha. He is the head of the Nyingma Sect in China and now the foremost person of great holiness and virtue in all Tibet. Born in 1927 in Eastern Tibet, Achuk Rinpoche has spent 43 years in retreat with his master, Tulku Arik Rinpoche. As a realized Buddhist master, Achuk Rinpoche is regarded as one of the world's greatest living exponents of the Great Perfection Teaching.
